Passed away on June 18, 2026, at the age of 89. Predeceased by her husband, Lyle Brozost; parents, Herman and Dorothy [Berman] Kosoff; siblings, Leonard (Anne) Kosoff and Eleanor Gall and Eleanor’s husbands, Manny Schwartz and Ted Gall; and nieces, Judi Barrett, Susan Schrader, Stacey Schwartz-Shepard and Renee Fahrner. Survived by her son, Mark (Maria) Brozost and their children, Laina P. Brozost and Elyse M. Brozost; and her son, Robert (Rebeca Garmizo) Brozost and children, Pamela (Michael Witmer) Brozost and Jennifer (James Mele) Brozost; brother-in-law, Brian (Lisa) Brozost; and many nieces, nephews and a community of dear friends.

Alma is remembered by her youthful spirit, her fierce support and commitment to her family, and her dirty jokes.

Born in 1936, Alma grew up in Rochester, NY, where she met her future husband, Lyle, on the softball field at age 12. Together, they moved to Irondequoit where they raised their two sons, Rob and Mark.  Working at a podiatrist and dental office, Alma supported the family so Lyle could complete college and graduate school and pursue a career as a teacher. She was an organizer extraordinaire, always cooking for the holidays and participating in endless card communities. Her friends were core to her life. She was proud to have maintained relationships for 85 years, as well as made new friends throughout her whole life. Anyone who knew her, recognized her competitive spirit, which often came out on the tennis court and the card table.

Later in her life, Alma became Bubbie and welcomed her four granddaughters—Pam, Jenn, Laina and Elyse. They were the center of her life, and she took every opportunity to spoil them with love and laughter. Bubbie could be counted on for anything and would show up for her grandkids as well as all of their friends. They will all warmly remember times with Bubbie, like searching for her car in the mall parking lot with the “mister”, trips to Seabreeze and ice cream sundaes at midnight on New Year’s Eve. Her happiest moments were in celebrating the accomplishments of and moments with her grandchildren.

Alma lived with purpose, loved with intention, and laughed at every opportunity. The world is a little quieter without its Bubbie, but somewhere we suspect she’s still keeping score and making sure everyone has eaten.
