It's so nice to read these remembrances of Aunt Barbara. All of my memories of her are infused with her warmth, her easy laugh, and the love that she was always so happy to give. She really delighted in connecting with people. Aaron and Eva I wish I could give you hugs in person. Sending them virtually for now.

Dear Aaron, Eva and family, We send our deepest sympathy at the sad passing of your mother, Barbara. She was a dear friend and will be greatly missed for her lively personality and tremendous musical talent. I think back with pleasure to the day we first met when she and Barbara Walker were “knee deep” in canning tomatoes. What fun they were having! It was such a joy to hear her play and to admire her elegant gowns. We will remember with great pleasure the recitals and chamber music concerts held in her and Joseph’s home. She and Joe gave the college and wider community such a wonderful musical legacy to store in our memories. Among our most recent (pre-covid) remembrances are of the several picnics we shared on the lawn while attending the annual Jewish and related movie festival offerings at the Eastman House. Our heartfelt sympathy to you and your families, Richard and Diony, (Erinna and Christopher)

Scott and I had the pleasure of meeting Barbara when we tagged along with the Temple Sinai Congregation trip to Spain led by Rabbi Amy Sappowitz in 2012. During the trip, we had a chance to talk about Ladino music and the fascinating history of Jewish Spain long before they were allowed to return to Spain in the late 1970s.. After the trip, we corresponded and she sent us a CD of her playing Ladino music. Our sincere sympathies go out to her family and many friends who were so lucky to have her in their lives. May her memory be a blessing.

I am a cousin of Barbara's who has not been in touch with the Dechario branch of the family in far too many years. I have many fond memories of Barbara and the rest of the family, from Eva and Aaron as young children, running wild in their grandparents Laura and Ed's apartment, of Barbara playing her harp, of reconnecting with Barbara and Joe at family weddings and bar mitzvahs. Sorry to have been so distant, but wanted you to know you are in my thoughts.
