In Loving Memory of
Boris Masandilov
Boris (Borya), 78, left this world peacefully on March 29, 2026.
Boris was born on May 20, 1947 in Kyrgyzstan, the son of Oftum (Alexander) Masandilov and Vera Nakhimova-Masandilova. He grew up in Makhachkala, Dagestan. Served in the Soviet Navy, where he gained his calm demeanor and resilience. After collegiate graduation and gaining his civil engineering degree he went on to pursue a career in civil construction, such as tunnels, bridges and roadways.
Throughout his lifetime, he had many different pathways, but the main one brought him to the USA in 1997. During his 29 years in the USA, with his perseverance and hard work he was able to assimilate and achieve the “american dream”. He was surrounded by many people that respected, loved and cared for him.
A loving husband to Vera Gutnova, Borya was a pillar of strength and support for his family. He was a devoted father, always there to offer guidance, love and a hearty laugh. He truly cherished family gatherings, especially when he was behind the stove making his signature, unforgettable pilaf.
Boris had many passions in life, including sketching, designing, mosaic art and cooking authentic food.
He was known for his patience, fairness, kindness, generosity, storytelling and his sense of humor could light up any room.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vera; his children Ella (Guram), Zorik (Alexandra), Oftum (Roksolana) and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his extended family, including the Masandilov, Karimov, Anisimov, Nakhimov, Kenetov, Gutnov, and Synyshyn families.
He is predeceased by his parents, Oftum and Vera Masandilov.
A funeral service to celebrate Boris’ life will be held on March 31st, 2026 at 3:00 PM in Creation Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park, located at 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY 14534.
Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects.
