Passed away on November 11, 2022, at the age of 93. Carolyn was predeceased by her first husband, Hillel Leib Horn; and her second husband, Stephen David Sundell.

Carolyn was born in Philadelphia, PA to Gertrude and Isaac Seidel. She graduated from West Chester State College with a degree in health and physical education and taught physical education and health in Philadelphia prior to relocating with her first husband to Rochester, NY. Carolyn worked at the JY for several years and later ran the health office at St James and Laurleton Schools in East Irondequoit. She loved being with her family, (especially at the annual Thanksgiving extravaganzas), a good game of bridge or scrabble with her friends in Rochester, at the Summit or formerly in Boca Del Ray, Florida, and she could have been a contender on Jeopardy.

She is survived by her brother Donald (Lela) Seidel; her children, David (Nona) Horn, Jonathan (Sherri) Horn, Nancy Horn (Chuck Doerflinger), Ellen (David) Merrill, Susan (Bruce) Hanley, Amy (James) Milstein, Robert (Gina) Sundell; 15 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside Services will be held on MONDAY November 14, 2022 at 10:30 AM in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends and family will gather at the Main Gate and then proceed to the grave. CLICK HERE for a map to the cemetery.

The family will sit Shiva on MONDAY from 4 – 7 PM at Brighton Memorial Chapel, Inc. (3325 Winton Road South). Please use the Funeral Home entrance for Shiva visitation. CLICK HERE for a map to the funeral home.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her honor to either the Rochester Jewish Community Federation (CLICK HERE to donate online) or Jewish Senior Life Foundation (CLICK HERE to donate online) or to a charity of one’s choice.
