Born to the late Raymond & Esther Bloom, she was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, 1950, the University of Rochester, BA 1954 & Nazareth College, MA 1977. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Nelson; devoted children, Stephen & Stephanie Cohen and Ann & John Germanow (the late David Beckerman); grandchildren, Daniel (Meaghan) Cohen, Emily (Michael) Scannella, Matthew (Claire) Cohen, Richard Beckerman, Evan (Chelsey) Beckerman & Sophie Beckerman; great-grandchildren, Alexandra & Lucas Cohen, Benjamin & Jackson Scannella and Penelope Beckerman. Charlotte was a devoted teacher for almost 30 years, first at the Rochester City School District as a tutor of homebound students; and then founded the ESOL Program, teaching English to foreign-born students at Brighton High School. In 1990 she was chosen as the annual Outstanding ESOL teacher by the NY State ESOL Teachers Association. After retirement in 1992, she taught English to immigrant employees of Jewish Senior Life as a volunteer for 5 years and in the Rochester City Schools for the Jewish Federation Literacy Volunteer program. Charlotte also served as the President of Temple B’rith Kodesh Sisterhood from 1964-1966. Charlotte felt very lucky to be able to travel around the world but was happiest at her beloved “Berley” on Keuka Lake, and swam across it each year. Most of all she was proud of her loving husband & children and her adored grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on TUESDAY, February 4, 2020 at 1 PM in the Benjamin Goldstein Chapel of Temple B’rith Kodesh, 2131 Elmwood Ave. [Click here for directions]. Interment, Mt.
