Passed away February 12, 2025, at the age of 57. She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Hawks, of Naples, New York; her son, Evan Drukker-Schardl, of Cambridge, Massachusetts; her former husband, Tivon Schardl, of Austin, Texas; and her brother, David Drukker, of Clemson, South Carolina.

Dana was born and grew up in Rochester. She attended Clark University and Vermont Law School before moving to Tallahassee, Florida to defend poor and vulnerable people facing the death penalty. She married Tivon Schardl with whom she had a son, Evan Drukker-Schardl, in 1998. The family moved to Sacramento, California in 2000, where Dana continued to practice law. She moved to the Austin, Texas area in 2018. Dana is remembered by all who knew her as a fiercely dedicated mother, a champion for the voiceless and vulnerable, and a brilliant, kind, and generous human being.
