Daniel A Morris
October 16, 1950 – September 17, 2026
Daniel (Dan) A Morris, z”l, 75, died on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY surrounded in love. He was born in Rochester on October 16, 1950, a son of the late David and Ruth (Rappoport) Morris.
Dan attended Monroe High School where he was a star footballer and was highly involved in civic life. He went on to attend SUNY Brockport where he, following in his father’s footsteps, found a love for acting. Dan starred in numerous University plays, and post graduation, he moved to NYC to become an actor while making ends meet as a taxi driver. When Broadway didn’t call, Dan pursued higher education, graduating from SUNY Albany with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work (MCSW).
After years in private practice and reflecting  on his own personal journey recovering from addiction, Dan saw an opportunity to help others in a new way. In 1993, Dan and his longtime colleague Robert Meadows, launched an experimental peer counseling group for men struggling with sex addiction designed to help them talk about their emotions. The experiment quickly identified a critical need in the community. By the late 1990s, their work evolved into a full scale practice helping individuals, partners, and couples, which is known today as Kavod Psychotherapy. As part of their practice, they developed new recovery frameworks that continue to be used by clinicians globally. Over the span of his career, Dan would ultimately counsel thousands of patients and their families.
Dan was an avid cyclist, a lover of astronomy, a devoted friend, a seeker of fun activities and a doting husband to Angie who showed him what unconditional love could feel like. Dan loved all of his children and delighted in becoming a Zayde.
He is survived by his wife, Angie Wilcox of Rochester, NY, and their three children: Robyn Lynne Wilcox-Davis and husband Jared Davis, Emerald Dawn Wilcox and partner Shaquille Brooks, and NaÌm Wilcox of Rochester, NY; five grandchildren Jalyia Davis, Amara Davis, Kamari Davis, Rubi Brooks and Dorian Nelson. From his first marriage, he is survived by Sam, Devon and Carol Ferris-Morris. He is also survived by his sister Marne Morris, niece Gail and partner Oliver Johnston, and grandniece Vida Babes of Seattle, WA.
