Diane Sharon Wishengrad (Pollack)
Diane Sharon Wishengrad, 78 of Pittsford, NY, formerly of Fayetteville, NY passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 25, 2023. Sharon was a very kind and humble woman, frequently giving back to the community. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. If she was your friend, she was your friend for life.
Sharon was born in Albany, New York, the 4th child of the late, Harry and Paula Pollack. After receiving a degree in Elementary Education, she taught in one of the early programs of Head Start. Sharon originally met her future husband, Barry, at a drug store after being introduced by a mutual friend. They later reconnected while Sharon was working a summer job and soon started dating. They both described it as “love on first date.” Sharon was outgoing and vivacious, while Barry was laid back. About six months after they started dating, they were engaged, married two years later and settled in Syracuse, NY. They were married for 55 years. Barry worked as a Pharmacist and Sharon continued teaching at the Head Start Program. Later, they worked side-by-side in their multiple drug stores and liquor stores.
Sharon volunteered with many organizations, including the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, where she used her teaching talents to assist at the Tiny Tots Concerts, helping children to understand the proper behavior at a concert. Sharon was also part of the Member Council at the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse for many years.
Sharon was a very private person; those who were fortunate enough to know her enjoyed her talent for design and hospitality as well as her ability to problem solve and keep important matters confidential.
She was predeceased by her husband, Barry Wishengrad; parents, Harry and Paula Pollack and sister Rita Septer. She is survived by her loving son & daughter-in-law, Jeff & Laurie Wishengrad; her grandson, Daniel Wishengrad; sister, Martha Proskin; brother, Norwin Pollack; nieces, nephews and friends. Services and Interment will be held privately.
