Elaine Miller Sanzel, loving mother, grandmother and wife, passed away on June 6th.
She took 3 buses and worked 3 part time jobs while attending Brockport College, where she graduated, cum laude, in 3 years. She was a city educator and hosted an educational TV program before marrying Ivan Sanzel and having three children. She continued to pursue her passion for education and children throughout her life, pursuing volunteer social work, child care at the Jewish Community Center, and eventually a position at the Western New York Child Care Council. She was also active in local politics and environmental causes.
She was a gifted artist, whose work was displayed in shops and shows around Rochester. She loved babies, music, movies, musicals, chocolate and cheering for the Buffalo Bills. Her home was not only a nurturing environment for her own children, but a comforting place for other children in the neighborhood.
She is predeceased by her parents, Meyer and Pearl [Sykorsky] Miller; and brother, Mort Miller. Survived by her husband, Ivan; children, Ken (Laura) Sanzel, Jeff (Sari Feldman) Sanzel and Hilary (Matt Nelson) Sanzel; granddaughter, Maya; and many grand-animals.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lollypop Farm or a charity of one’s choice in Elaine’s memory.
