Florence Kaplow passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026 at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her parents (Ralph and Elsie Kizer), her sister Doris Sall, and her husband Benjamin. She will be greatly missed by her children David Kaplow (Tiralisa) , Joan Kaplow (Brian Levy) ; grandchildren Greg Kaplow (Jessica), Spencer Obrecht (Nicole) and Serena Obrecht; great grandchildren Robbie and Emma Kaplow, Brinley and Marlowe Obrecht, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Florence helped her husband with Kaplow Liquors before she worked in public relations at Rochester Savings Bank, bringing exhibits from the Smithsonian to Rochester along with the launch of the Susan B. Anthony coin. She then became the administrator of 3 Stanley Kaplan Test Preparation Centers in Rochester, Buffalo and Erie. She helped launch many professional careers.
Later in life, she developed a website based on her husband’s WWII letters chronicling his experiences during the war www.benkaplow.com. Finally, while living at the Summit and Wolk at the Jewish Home, she recorded on video, life stories of fellow residents, which she felt was important to document, so future residents would know of them.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Jewish Home Staff at Cottage #3, 2nd floor for their care and kindness. Also to Rochester Regional Hospice for all the special attention they gave our mother. A special thank you goes out to Noah Wallace, IT specialist, who helped Florence with technical support for all her projects.
