Gerard B. Flanders (Jerry) passed away in his home on January 7, 2024, at the age of 80.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Judith A. Flanders (Lewis); and his daughters Danielle L. Jacobs (Flanders) and Allison Hitzeman (Flanders); and his sister Marjorie G. Konigsberg (Flanders).  He is also survived by his son-in-laws Jason Jacobs and Shane Hitzeman; brothers-in-law Sheldon Konigsberg and Barry Lewis; grandchildren Jordyn Hitzeman (20), Casey Jacobs (19), Summer Jacobs (15), and Blake Hitzeman (12), nephews Derek Konigsberg and Eric Lewis; and nieces Alexis Sklar (Konigsberg) and Marne Spingola (Lewis).  He is predeceased by his parents Solomon M Flanders and Edythe L Flanders.

Jerry was born and grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He earned his master’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in statistics and applied mathematics. On July 16, 1967, he married Judith Lewis. He worked for Pfaudler Inc. for many years and did quality control engineering work, that he continued to do throughout his “retirement”.

He was a devoted father and grandfather, and always enjoyed learning about what was happening in everyone’s lives, and until the last few years, enjoyed going to National Parks with and visiting his grandchildren.  He was always ready to celebrate the high points and sympathize with the lower one.  He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge in Rochester, NY., and participated in many service projects through them.  He was a frequent blood donor for the American Red Cross (NY-Penn Region).

He spent every morning working out (swimming) and socializing at the Eastside Family YMCA, and really loved his friends and his time there.
