HENRY (Hank) MARKOWITZ
Passed unexpectedly December 19, 2025, at the age of 91. Predeceased by wife Sheila (Leitman) Markowitz, parents Benjamin Markowitz and Pauline (Schreiber) Solomon, sister Rosalie (Alfred) Hutter, and son-in-law James Noble. Hank is survived by children Benjamin (Anna) Markowitz and Carrie Noble; grandchildren Sean, Emma, Megan, and Ashlyn; as well as cousins, nieces, great-nephews, and a vast community of friends.
Hank grew up in Brooklyn, where he met the love of his life, Sheila Leitman. He was devoted to his loving wife for over 68 years – the two of them famously holding hands almost everywhere they went. Hank served in the US Army before joining IBM Computer Services, which moved the family to Rochester. Hank later worked for Monroe BOCES, and as an independent IT consultant, before joining Pittsford Wegmans in retirement.
To know Hank was to love him. He was an animal, boat, and music lover. Hank sang with the Rochester Jewish Chorale, and participated in community theatre at the JCC. Hank could often be found humming a tune, his smile and good humor making others smile in return. Hank embraced life with joy and found happiness in his last years as part of the Linden Knoll community where he and Sheila lived.
The family will receive friends on MONDAY December 29, 2025 from 5 – 7 PM at Brighton Memorial Chapel, Inc. (3325 Winton Road South). Please use the funeral home entrance.
Donations may be made to Lollypop Farm or The American Heart Association in Hank’s memory.
