Hinda Rotenberg Miller passed away on the 14th of February at the age of 84. She is predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Muriel Rotenberg, her sisters, Frances Schultz and Lyla Brontman, and nephew Lawrence Brontman. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Hon. Michael J. Miller; children, Caralyn (Alan) Ross and Jonathan Miller; six grandchildren, Emma Ross, Isabel Ross, Nathan Ross, Matthew Ross, Theodore Miller, and Dustin Miller; nieces and nephews.

Hinda graduated from Brighton High School and Barnard College and obtained a Master of Public Administration degree from SUNY Brockport. She served as executive director of several not-for-profit organizations. As head of Literacy Volunteers, she supervised programs for teaching adults to read, and as director of the Rochester Children’s Collaborative, she was a tireless advocate for the most vulnerable among us, children living in poverty. At the Jewish Community Federation, she was the administrator of the Melton adult Jewish education program.

She was the personification of grace, goodness, and compassion. In her last days, she defied despair, concentrating instead on comforting family and friends. To Hinda, there was no unimportant act of kindness. She leaves a legacy of kindness that will always be remembered.

The family would like to thank Dr. Maria McGreavy and her staff at Wilmot Cancer Center and the University of Rochester Hospice team for their care and caring.
