Howard D. Luntz passed peacefully at home on December 27, 2024.
Predeceased by beloved wife Donna (after celebrating 30 years of marriage) and sister Gloria (Jerry) Ashton. Survived by Deanna, his beloved wife of 35 years, his children Ron (Laura) Erdman-Luntz and Natalie (Franz) Luntz-Martin, along with Rob (Wendy) Rogachefsky and Arlene (David Black) Rogachefsky, and grandchildren Danika and Caitlin, Sierra and Zack, Mitchell and Ellie, Hannah and Evan, and nieces and nephews.
Born on April 14, 1928, to loving parents Rose and Archie, Howie grew up in Jamestown, NY, surrounded by aunts, uncles and so many cousins they created a “Cousins Club.” He enjoyed photography, writing stories and plays, and reporting for the local Jamestown newspaper. He pursued a lifelong love of piano. Classical made room for “pop” music (1940s!) when he hit high school. He played in clubs and bands while in college and the army, and much later taught piano lessons to his kids on Saturday afternoons.
He attended college at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, and then served in the army. He was a Korean War veteran.
Howie raised his family in Jamestown, Cleveland and Altoona, PA, before settling in Rochester in 1971. He put his family first, always protective and supportive, and home for family dinner every night. Howie was quick to bring humor to the situation. When the kids were grown he and Donna enjoyed travel and, of course, having the kids over for Sunday dinner.
In 1990, Howie and Deanna married and his family grew. He and Deanna enjoyed dining out, travel, going dancing, meeting friends for dinner, and many afternoons at the casino. They cherished visits with the kids and grandkids and cheering on their grandchildren’s achievements. Blessed with good health, they continued to enjoy these pursuits together even after he turned 96!
His kindness and humor will always be remembered. Mostly, he was deeply loved and will be dearly missed!
Funeral services will be held on Monday December 30, 2024 at 11:30AM in the All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park (210 Marsh Road, Pittsford. NY 14534) with interment to follow. Shiva will be observed Tuesday December 31, 2024 from 10AM – 12PM at 2500 East Avenue Apt. 5L, Rochester, New York 14610.
