Gail, this is the most heart-breaking news. Such a precious person leaving the earth way too soon. I was very en-heartened to read the wonderful description of your daughter, and the way she used art and beauty and her sense of justice to light up people's lives. What a treasure. We are praying that God will sustain you through all the years to come...her place empty at the table, in the room, at the gathering...but ALWAYS in your mind, and in your heart.

Illana was one of the nicest people I ever knew. She had a kind heart, never anything bad to say about anyone else. Always bringing a special light and positivity with her. She always shared her love of art and her works. She was too kind for this world. This world is a darker place without her in it. I miss you I hope you are at peace and somewhere safe now. I will keep you in my heart and never forget you.

Ilana, it feels like I saw saw you yesterday but no, it was last year at your grandmother's shiva. I still have your texts on my phone from that day. Even though we rarely saw each other, I always felt at ease with you. You were such a sweetheart and will never forget you. Go give you grandparents and my grandparents a hug from me.

To the Finkelstein family, I am absolutely heartbroken for the loss of Ilana. Words mean so little at a time like this. I pray that her soul is at peace and I pray that the beautiful memories of Ilana encircle you now and hold you close in this very dark time. May her spirit, which has touched so many of us, even if we met only briefly, be forever blessed. She was a shining light, a beautiful young woman and a reflection of the strength and love her family surrounded her with. With my deepest condolences, Madhuri

I remember Ilana as a very kind and gentle person. I enjoyed seeing her at shul , at Sisterhood Meetings, at services and at kiddish with either Jack or with Gail, or with both of them. I remember running into Ilana a couple times at either Wegman's or at a donut shop, and I remember her paying very close attention to details in a couple of earrings I ordered from her.. Ilana, you brought so much joy to so many people in your life. You shall truly be remembered as being compassionate ,creative, and doing acts of kindness. Terri Rosenhouse

My deepest condolences to you, Gail, Jacob and David. I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Ilana’s passing. I have very fond memories of her in the art rooms of BHS. Her face would always light up as she walked into my art class. I was so happy to hear that she extended that creative spirit into adulthood, which was sadly cut short. Thinking of you all and hoping you find peace and comfort with the memories you hold dear. Sincerely Ann Crerand

When I think of Ilana I feel surrounded by a glowing positive force of light that lets off a powerful knowing of goodness and strength of kindness. Ilana’s beauty is beyond human expression- it travels spiritually and encompasses pure loving humanity. I will sorely miss knowing she is not here with us in body, but I feel comforted in knowing she’ll always be around in spirit.

Jack, Gail and David: My heart aches so much right now. Your loss is beyond words. Ilana was always with a ready smile and wanting to converse with those she knew. I've know her since she arrived in daycare, and pretty much ever since, as she would come to services with Jack..even the early morning ones when he was saying Kaddish. May her memory always be for a blessing, as was she.

i can't imagine the pain that you are experiencing. I do know that i have heard many Bar and Bat Mitzvah speeches ove the decades, but Ilana's was one of the most loving meaningful talks ever. May your memories help with the pain.

Gail & Jacob- I was so sorry to learn of Ilana's passing. She was a classmate and friend of my son Harrison, and I know they stayed in touch over the years. When I told him of her passing, he shared some stories from their teen years. I can't even begin to imagine your loss, but I hope knowing how much her friendship meant to my son might provide a bit of solace. My deepest sympathies. Melinda
