Janet L. Ellson

Janet Lynn Ellson passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023.

Janet was born at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY to Robert and Sharlyn Ellson. The family moved to Cleveland, OH for a period of time, but returned to Rochester, NY when Janet was 4 years old. Janet graduated from Brighton High School and attended Nazareth University (formerly Nazareth College), earning a bachelor’s degree in social work. While at Nazareth, Janet befriended several of the Sisters of St. Joseph, some of whom became part of her extended family.

Janet worked as a home health worker at multiple group homes and in the retail service industry. During her childhood, she developed a love for gymnastics. As an adult, she enjoyed collecting dolls and designing jewelry. Janet loved going thrifting and bargain hunting at garage sales with her mother. She also cared for several pets.

Janet is survived by her father, Robert Ellson; her brothers, Richard (Penny) and Steven (Michele) Ellson; her aunt and uncle, Bill and Debbie Shuman; aunt and uncle Robbie and Edie Praeger; her nieces and nephew; and several cousins and friends, including her dear friend Ricky Pender.

Janet’s Graveside Service will be held 11 AM WEDNESDAY October 11th in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
