Unexpectedly on July 18, 2026 at age 63 in Washington, DC.

Janet is survived by her much loved mother, Deena Ambush; cousins, Harris, David and Selena Ambush of St Petersburg Florida and many wonderful and devoted friends.

She was predeceased by her father Sidney Rankin; her cherished grandparents, Rose and Harry Ambush and her uncle, Les Ambush.

A graduate of the Cornell University’s 5 year Architecture program, Janet enjoyed a successful career as a Licensed Architect in Washington DC. She was a strong and proud female professional with a love of and dedication to beautiful spaces. Everyone loved her wit and sharp sense of humor and she was the best daughter in the whole world.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Britton Road Cemetery.

Shiva will be observed Thursday, July 23, 2026 in the youth lounge at Temple Beth El (139 Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14610) from 3-6 PM. Shiva Minyan will be observed in the chapel at 6 PM. The family will additionally receive friends from 7:30-9 PM at 1198 Edgemere Drive, Rochester, NY 14612.
