Jerome Harris Blotcky was born in Des Moines, Iowa on July 31, 1934, and passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024. He survived by his loving wife, Ida Blotcky, his three children Wayne, Laurence, and Brenda, as well as his stepchildren Leslie, Kenneth, and Douglas Seltzer, along with numerous grandchildren. Jerome graduated from Miami University and held a successful career as a special education teacher for over 38 years, retiring in 1985.

Once Jerry and his wife were both retired, they relocated to Spring Hill, Florida, where they spent the next 25 years traveling and enjoying life together. There, he was able to enjoy his favorite pastime, riding his motorcycles. Jerry was a free spirit all of his life and truly appreciated the outdoors. He loved to walk or ride as long as the weather was friendly; ie. warm, no precipitation, and definitely no snow. Florida was very generous to him with all of his weather qualifications.

Jerry had a passion for solving mechanical problems, and many people called him “Mr. fix-it”. He could spend hours in his workshop solving a problem; but for him it was thoroughly enjoyable. He also loved to travel, and he and his wife explored over 30 countries together. His favorite by far was New Zealand, and held a special place in his heart.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jerome’s life at a memorial service on Wednesday, June 26th, from 2-4pm at the Briarwood Facility at St. John’s Retirement Community
