Joan Seena Lefkowitz Feinbloom, daughter of New York Attorney General Louis Lefkowitz and Helen Schwimmer Lefkowitz, born in New York City in the spring of 1933. Graduate of the Ethical Culture Fieldston School and her beloved Brown University, a lifelong scholar of literature and the arts. Joan married Harold in 1956 and moved to Rochester where she raised two sons and became increasingly active in an array of institutions and agencies. Together Joan and Harold were leaders in area philanthropy at every level.
Joan masterfully presided over a family foundation where she focused on arts education and services for families. She was a vigorous student at the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery where she cherished her role as docent. She served on the the University of Rochester Medical Center board for many years with dedication. Her hard work and generosity continue to better the lives of thousands who will never know her name.
Joan was predeceased by her parents and her brother Stephen, husband Harold and many lifelong friends. She is survived by sons David (Lisa Scholnick) and Stephen (Vicki Copeland) and grandchildren Daniel, Rosie and Ruby Feinbloom. She never stopped reading, learning about the world or listening to the people around her. At this time she is accompanied by her good deeds. May her memory be a blessing.
