Michael and family, I was saddened to just learn of Joany’s passing. Please accept my sincere sympathy.Although it was years ago, there are many happy memories of CSL that stay with all of us, and even some from when the kids were little and we lived around the corner on Hunters Pointe ( changing a carpool to the J when your garage door came down on her car.). I had the pleasure of meeting your daughter again and son-in-law, years later, and your beautiful grandchildren. Again, my condolences on your loss.

My sincere sympathy to the Cooper and Applebaum family… it was such a pleasure to know Joany for the short time that I had them as my neighbors here at our Florida condo … always a smile and a friendly hello .❤️ Truly missed them this season not being here next-door to me … . I know Joany was a wonderful mother and grandmother, always entertaining, looking forward to the grandchildren’s visit … so happy to have the family around them. May these memories be surrounded in your hearts forever🙏💔

Dear Michael and Joany’s entire family, Hyla & I are very sad to hear the news of Joany’s passing. Our happy memories of Joany and the whole Applebaum family go far back to our childhoods. Our families shared many happy times and Joany & Michael created such a beautiful family & life of their own. May Joany rest in peace she so richly deserves and may these words and the comfort of family & friends help her family through this difficult time.

I was so saddened to hear of Joany's passing. I have fond memories of being with her at Camp Seneca Lake, having lunch picnics our junior year of high school in the spring, and plotting our graduation early from BHS. We attended MCC in the 2nd semester of our senior year together. I am thinking of Michael and all of the family at this tremendously difficult time.

This was at Camp Seneca Lake, I believe it was the year we were CIT's.

Joany and I had our bat mitzvahs together on the bimah at Temple Beth El on January 10, 1969. She knew to shave her legs, front and back. I had only been instructed to shave the front of my legs, much to the amusement of some in the congregation. Joany just gave me a hug of encouragement and we soldiered on in our halachic duties. I've always enjoyed running into her in the years since, and know that she had a wonderful life. My sincere condolences to the Appelbaum and Cooper families.

Growing up in the house behind the Apolebaum’s in Brighton brings back childhood memories of always being welcome and spinning those 45’s in the basement with Tommy Roe’s ‘Dizzy’ or ‘Sweet Pea’ on constant repeat. May her memory be a blessing.
