Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Lee passed away peacefully on February 16, 2021, at the age of 86, surrounded by love. Lee is survived by children Lesli Sloan Sopher, Heidi Sloan Nelson, David Scott Sloan and Amy Sloan Nichols; sons-in-law Scott Sopher and Jon Nichols and daughter-in-law Katherine Sloan; grandchildren Jessica Sopher Gibofsky (Lewis), Sara Sopher, Greg Nelson, Tyler Sloan, Melissa Sopher, Rachel Nelson, Caroline Sloan and Meredith Sloan; great-grandson Reid Gibofsky; her best friend and sister Rita Lazerson; niece Patti Lazerson Kehoe (her “5th child”); and many nieces and nephews. Lee was predeceased by her parents Hyman and Frieda Mandell; and her sister Joan M. Wheeler.
Lee treasured her family, was everyone’s friend, and enjoyed a good glass of Merlot, with ice! She loved all her years teaching at Twelve Corners Middle School. Lee will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private funeral will be held on Sunday, February 21st at 1:00 PM.
A celebration of Lee’s life will be held later this year.
