Lila Spinner Loewy, 89, passed away at home in Philadelphia on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, with family by her side. Lila was predeceased by her parents, Fay Wayne and Jay Spinner.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert G. Loewy, Philadelphia, PA, her devoted children, Liz Loewy (Paul Giddins), Irvington, NY, Joanne Loewy, Yardley, PA, and Raymond Loewy (Ashleigh Bounds), Montclair, NJ, and her grandchildren, Jake and Audrey Antoniello, Marley and Sam Giddins, and Nate and Harper Loewy.
Lila Loewy was a bright, effervescent, and fully involved wife, mother, and grandmother. Known for her sharp wit and candor, she had a wonderful sense of humor and could always make the people around her laugh. Born in Brooklyn, and raised in Wilkes Barre, PA, she attended Penn State and worked as a runway model and then as an elementary school teacher. During her days in Rochester and then Albany, NY, she was active in the community as a volunteer tutor for students with special needs, a member of the National Council of Jewish Women, and a chair of gala events at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center – for which she was a member of the Action Council. Lila loved crossword puzzles, backgammon, music, theater, and traveling around the world with her husband. Some of the best times of her life were spent with family on the Jersey Shore.
Lila greatly appreciated the home care provided by Janet Todd-Watson through her final days.
