Rochester: Passed away on June 1, 2024 at age 99. She was predeceased by her husband, Isaac Cohen; daughter, Laurie Cohen; son, Elliot Cohen; parents, Elie and Mary Angel; siblings, Elsie, Esther, Albert “Abie”, Dora “Dutchie”.

She is survived by her son, Marc S. Cohen (June Chong); step-grandson, Eric Ehrlich (Maggie) and their children Katrina and Emanuel; daughter-in-law, Seena Cohen-Reinleib (Joey); nieces, and nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Lily’s life was significant, not only for her longevity and all that she’s seen in that time, but for her dedication as a Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Wife, and Aunt.  Family was the most important thing to her.  The needs and concerns of others were always foremost in her heart.  She was most proud of raising her 3 children, and found great joy at tirelessly working in her home garden in Irondequoit.  Giving back to others was important to her, and she was able to do that through the many years she volunteered at Rochester General Hospital and with the West Irondequiot Schools.  Curiosity was also a trademark of hers.   Lily could always be counted on to learn as much as possible about people she met from all walks of life.  Everyone had a story that she was interested in hearing.  She was a great sport who would be up for trying something new. And while she had a terrific sense of humor, her ability to remember and tell a joke with comic timing needed just a little more practice.  We loved her for all that and so much more.  May her life spirit be with us forever.

A Graveside Service will be held at the Britton Road Cemetery, Light of Israel Plot on Tuesday, June 4 at 3:30pm.

Friends and family are welcome to sit shiva and celebrate her life from 6-8pm at The Gables of Brighton; 2001South Clinton Ave.

Contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in Lily’s name.
