M. Donald Hurwitz passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the age of 90. He is survived by his sister, Gloria Frankel (sons Edwin, Daniel and David); his sister-in-law Gail Hammett (daughter Amy (Shawn Wiess)) along with his daughters, Debra (Dennis Sucec) and Karen, and his devoted grandchildren, Joshua and Anna.
Don spent most of his life in Rochester but loved to travel. He loved meeting and talking to people, making friends almost instantly, and never was without a sense of humor or smile. After retiring as a store manager and salesman, he volunteered a great deal, visiting residents at the Jewish Home, leading support groups for caregivers of people with Alzheimer and serving on the temple board. Until nearly the very end, he lived an active life that was especially noteworthy for the time he spent playing golfing, rooting for the Buffalo Bills, playing cards, visiting family in Houston, talking with friends and family, especially his sis, and yes socializing while sharing a small scotch with his dear friend, “Uncle Larry”.
