Margy Cooke Taylor, born January 21, 1950 in Syracuse, NY died on June 28, 2021 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents Audre “Pinny” and Henry F. Cooke. She is survived by her loving children, Frann Garrett (Matthew) and Sam Taylor; sister, Bess Lewis (Edward); brother, Jon Cooke; nephew Charlie Lewis (Marie); nieces, Molly Gilbert (Daniel) and Jenny Holmes (Matthew); great niece and nephews, and extended family in Delaware, Florida, Georgia.

Margy graduated from the University of Miami, where she was a member of the SDT sorority, and later received her Master’s in special education from Nazareth College in Pittsford, NY. Margy dedicated her professional life to her students and loved watching them learn. Margy was fortunate to have deeply caring lifelong friends and supportive teaching colleagues who she spoiled with her famous chocolate chip cookies.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Wilmot Cancer Center and Strong Memorial Hospital for the care they provided throughout her fight.

Funeral services will be held WEDNESDAY, June 30, 2021 at 2 PM at Temple B’rith Kodesh (2131 Elmwood Ave). Click HERE for directions to Temple. 

Internment will follow at White Haven Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the Country Club of Rochester (2935 East Ave) on Wednesday from 4 – 7 PM. Click HERE for directions to The Country Club.
