Marvin Lederman, M.D., a longtime resident of Pittsford, NY and Longboat Key, FL, and a distinguished surgeon, passed away on November 19, 2025, at the age of 88.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Brenda; children, Eric (Kim), Andrew (Jilly), and Lisa (Adam) Kaufmann; and grandchildren, Alex, Colby, Juliet, and Caitlin; and his sister, Barbara (Marvin) Gray.
As the child of immigrant parents and the youngest of five siblings, Dr. Lederman was deeply proud of his opportunity to attend the University of Rochester and graduate from the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry in 1963. He served his country as a commissioned Major in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps. He devoted over 35 years to the practice of medicine in the Rochester area, specializing in general and vascular surgery. He served as Chief of Medical Staff at The Genesee Hospital. Known for his steady hand, sharp mind, and deep compassion, he cared for generations of patients with kindness, humor, and integrity. His dedication to his patients touched countless lives. He took great joy in mentoring surgical residents, medical students, and his own children.
At home, Marvin’s greatest pride was his family. Known for his sharp wit and quick puns, he cherished his time with family and friends. Family dinners were replete with surgical tales and anatomical drawings sketched out on napkins. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed golf in his retirement.
