Murray Sanders, 76, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2023, surrounded by family. Murray was born in a Displaced Persons Camp in Europe to two Holocaust Survivors. After moving to the United States as a young boy, Murray’s parents settled in Buffalo, NY, where he was raised, married, and started a family.
Murray was a devoted and loving father. His sons, and later, his grandchildren, were his pride and joy. He was always willing to lend a hand, in any way he could, when his family was in need.
He was friendly, generous, always willing to give the benefit of the doubt, and he never spoke ill of others. Murray was a dog lover and never left home without some dog treats in his pocket.
Murray’s Jewish faith and heritage was an essential part of his identity and he especially loved having Shabbat and Yom Tov meals with his family. He was also a fixture at the Temple Beth El Shabbat and daily minyan until he moved to the Jewish Home.
In his later years, Murray struggled with Parkinson’s Disease, but even as his health declined he approached each new day with a positive attitude and continued to bring smiles and happiness to those around him.
Murray is survived by sons Jonathan (Michele) Sadik, Paul (Vesna) Sanders, and Scott (Shannon) Sadik, grandchildren Benjamin (Sheva), Talia, Abigail, Teo, Kennedy, sister Carla Blumenthal, nieces Mara and Shayna and longtime partner Nikki LoRe.
