Passed away on July 4, 2021 at the age of 93. Born on March 8, 1928 in London, England to Sydney Rose and Lily Jacobson. She came to the United States in 1945 to marry David Shure and begin a family in Brooklyn, NY. David and Pamela moved to Rochester in the 1950s where they raised their two daughters, Patricia Ann and Judith Lynn. They would later move to Pittsford, NY in the 1960s.
After her children were grown, Pamela returned to school and received her nursing degree from Monroe Community College. She worked as an Obstetrics nurse at Genesee Hospital in Rochester until she retired to Delray Beach, FL in the 1990s. In her free time, Pamela enjoyed luncheons with her friends, evening bridge games, and summer days on the beach, reading, and annual trips to London to visit family. Pamela also loved listening to Frank Sinatra. She loved watching All Creatures Great and Small, Marcus Welby, MD and the movie Dirty Dancing and playing the card game Gin Rummy with her grand-children. Pamela and her husband were active members of Temple Beth El in Rochester where Pamela served on the temple’s Sisterhood committee. She is remembered for her generosity, dry sense of humor, and hosting the best family holiday celebrations. She will be sorely missed by her family in Knoxville, TN who cared for her the last years of her life.
Pamela is predeceased by her parents Sydney and Lily Rose; her sisters Eunice Anderson and Betty Yank; her husbands David Shure and Joseph Maier; her daughters Patricia and Judith; and grand-son Adam Kogan. She is survived by her grandchildren who visited annually and loved going to Schoen Place in Pittsford together – Cassandra Hill and husband Ken, of North Attleboro, MA, Matthew Kogan and wife Renee of Plainview, NY, Eugena Mohan and husband Stephen of Plainville, MA, and Damien Strimple and wife Brooke of Knoxville, TN; her niece Jill Anderson and nephews Stuart Yank of New Zealand and Allan Yank of England; nieces Donna Dorans of Agawam, MA, Diane Schwartz of Berkeley, CA; and nephew Larry Schwartz of Houston, TX, and several great-grandchildren.
