Paul Sultar, 93, of North Chili, NY, passed peacefully in his sleep on June 7, 2024, at a nursing home in Greece, NY.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marilyn Silver Sultar; his daughter, Rhona Schiffres (Jeremy); and his son, Scott Sultar (Lisa). Also, grandchildren Marc Schiffres, Rachael Parris (Matt) and Joshua Sultar, and great-granddaughters Calliope and Amelia Parris.

Paul was born Oct. 6, 1930, son of the late Max and Rebecca Sultar, and grew up in Brooklyn, NY.

Paul originally wanted to attend medical school, though he chose to get his pharmacy degree at Long Island University of Brooklyn. He served in the US Military Medical Corps during the Korean War Era at Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco where he designed Pharmacies for M.A.S.H units. He later worked for Eli Lilly as a pharmaceutical sales representative, owned and operated a pharmacy in Kingston, NY, and worked as a senior pharmacist for various national chains.

Besides the New York City and Kingston areas, Paul lived and worked in Rockland County, NY, Watertown, NY, and  Rochester, NY.

Paul was an old-school pharmacist, the last of a breed that compounded medications by hand. He also spent countless hours counseling his customers about how to use their medications. The health and well-being of each customer was the number one priority for him.

When not working, Paul enjoyed reading, cooking with his wife, traveling, and spending time with all the generations of his family.

Paul was brought up with a strong Jewish identity, and holidays and customs were important to him, whether going to synagogue or leading a Passover seder.
