Predeceased by his wife, Florence; parents, Joseph & Ethel Strauss; stepfather, Louis Freifeld; brothers, Leon & Rudy (Marion); brother-in-law, Larry Kaminsky, many aunts, uncles & cousins. He is survived by his loving daughters, Adryann & Wendy (Avraham ben Yishai); sister-in-law, Claire Kaminsky; faithful dog, Riley; & several nieces & nephews. Philip was born in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Charleston, WV High School in 1952 and West Virginia University in 1956. He was in the Mountaineer Marching Band & Phi Sigma Delta Fraternity. He began his teaching career in Chillicothe, OH in 1957 and moved to Benjamin Franklin HS in Rochester, NY in 1958. He also served as a vocational guidance counselor for the handicapped at Jefferson HS and retired from John Marshall HS in 1992. He was a former East Irondequoit School Board member and was active in many political & social causes & Jewish organizations. He had a lifelong love of learning & education, music & puns. The family wishes to thank the Jewish Home, formerly 4SW and especially the extraordinary staff in Cottage 3 for their very kind and loving care of Phil. Funeral & interment were held in New Montefiore Cemetery, Long Island, NY. The family will receive friends at the Jewish Home, Cottage 3 on MONDAY from 2-7 PM.
