Passed away on January 5, 2025, at the age of 94. Predeceased by Blanche (Serns) Saltzman (wife) and Shirley (Saltzman) Schiffman (sister). Survived by Hedria (Lunken) Saltzman (wife), Dan and Risa Saltzman (son and daughter-in-law), Nettie and Jed Nitzberg (stepdaughter and stepson-in-law), Yona and Dina Lunken (stepson and stepdaughter-in-law), and David and Jessica Lunken (stepson and stepdaughter-in-law); grandchildren Benjamin Saltzman, Rebecca Saltzman, Perri and Casey Nitzberg Upchurch, Kayla Nitzberg, Adira Lunken, Ronit Lunken, Ilan Lunken, Isabel Lunken, Talia Lunken, and Nadya Lunken; sister Betty Cohen; twin sister Ruby Green; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews, whom he loved.

Bob was born on August 23, 1930, in Buffalo, NY, and worked in the family bakery (Saltzman’s Bakery) along with his sisters, even when attending the University of Buffalo, where he received a BA in business. He met his first wife, Blanche Saltzman, at Temple Zion in Buffalo, NY, where she was the rabbi’s secretary and he was the scout leader. They married in 1957 and moved to Rochester, NY.  Bob was employed with General Dynamics, Bausch & Lomb, and Fisher Optical until he started his own optical business in his garage in 1974. Bob grew his business, Glass Fab, Inc, into an international business and his son, Dan, joined in 1983. One of Bob’s greatest joys was working side by side with Dan. Bob was an active part of the company until he officially retired in 2020, at 90 years old!

After Blanche passed away in 2000, he remarried Hedria in 2002. He gained three more children and eventually eight more grandchildren. He deeply loved all his children and grandchildren, enjoyed their visits and calls, and made trips to join them for the holidays. One of the special things Bob and Hedria did was planning trips for all the grandchildren to celebrate their bar, bat, and bnei mitzvahs!

Bob was an ardent supporter and longtime board member of Geva Theatre in Rochester, NY. When wintering in Sarasota, Fl, and moving there full-time in 2023, he loved attending the theater and was a generous supporter of the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe.

He was an avid golfer and a member of Midvale Country Club for years. He also loved fishing and was an excellent card player: poker, bridge, and especially cribbage, which he played in person or online with his family. He also loved reading and all types of puzzles.
