Sandra F. Baker passed away on September 28, 2023, at age 96. Predeceased by her husband Ruby of 63 years; brother Meyer (Florence) Florentine; sisters, Regina (Ben) Eskin, Naomi, and Leah (Haskell) Albahari. Survived by children, Leslie (Joseph) Diamond, Rochelle Black, Michael & Scott (Velvet) Baker; grandchildren, Dr. Shira (Rabbi Joshua) Tannenbaum, Joseph (Lauren) Black, Dr. Leah (Elishah) Herman, Rabbi Daniel (Shifra) Black,
Brendon (Ellena) Baker, Justin Baker; brother-in-law, Joseph (Dona) Baker; sister-in-law, Barbara Baker;
many nieces & nephews; including 25 great grandchildren.
Sandra was born, raised, and married in Rochester; she attended Benjamin Franklin high school; was
secretary/treasurer of Baker Rigging Corporation; lifetime member of Bnai Brith and ORT; for 10 years,
administered the Congregation Light of Israel memorial/get well donation card program and was an
active participant in the shul sisterhood; created costumes for the Rochester Jay Lodge #439 charity
events; and met her beloved Ruby at one of the many ‘JAY’ dances; in 2000, Sandy & Ruby retired to
Sunrise, FL and upon Ruby’s death in 2012, she moved to Birmingham, AL to live with her son Michael;
Sandy loved cowboy movies, knitting afghans for friends and family, cooking and baking for others,
dancing, playing Rummy-Q & Dominoes, and above all making parties and being with family. She was an
amazing women, who created caring friendships wherever she went.

Sandra’s Graveside Service will be held 1PM Tuesday October 3, 2023 at Britton Road Cemetery. Following the funeral, the family will receive friends and celebrate Sandra’s life at Congregation Light of Israel (1675 Monroe Ave., Roch., NY 14618), starting after 2 pm.
