February 1, 2024. Survived by his loving daughter, Sarah Beth Sandler (Michael J. Long); two grandchildren; dear friends and neighbors. Predeceased by wife Judy Susswein Sandler; parents Julia and Bernard Sandler.
A native of Johnson City, New York, Jack came to Rochester for his undergraduate education at the University of Rochester and continued on at the medical school. Following internship at Buffalo Children’s Hospital and residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center, he served for two years of active duty with the United States Navy stationed in Portsmouth, Virginia. After the Navy, he returned to Rochester where he was a member of the URMC Department of Anesthesia until his retirement. A loving husband and father, devoted son, loyal friend, teacher, and fierce advocate, Jack did everything with preciseness and integrity. His absence will leave a gaping hole in his daughter’s heart.
