Our family mourns the loss of our loving father and brother, Seymour Weinstein who passed away on January 9, 2026. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 72 years, Myrna Brener Weinstein, and his sister Lois DeCoste.

Survived by his 3 children Rick Weinstein (Donna), Vicki Weinstein Finnefrock (Tom), Lauri Weinstein Amentola (David); 5 grandchildren Karen Fossett, Lisa Weinstein (Amir Motameni), David Weinstein (Michal Vardy), Mike Finnefrock (Michelle), Megan Antonucci (Chris), and 7 great-grandchildren Sophie and Taylor Fossett, Ari and Adira Finnefrock, Dylan and Mia Antonucci, and Ava Motameni, and brothers Morrie Weinstein (Beverly), and Rodger Weinstein (Linda), He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.

Seymour was born in Rochester, N.Y., and graduated from Franklin High School, immediately joining the Navy during WWII. After his Service, he attended the University of Rochester at night on the GI Bill, earning a degree in accounting. He went on to graduate from Syracuse University Law School and began his legal career.  He and his life-long friend, Leonard Maas, soon formed their own law firm, which became the foundation for his 70 year legal career. He was still going into his most recent firm, Weinstein-Randisi Law, well into his nineties.

Seymour was quite active as a volunteer in the Jewish community as well as the greater Rochester community. He served on the Jewish Federation Board of Directors and Board of Governors, was a Member of the Jewish Federation Professional Advisory Committee and the Jewish Federation Passport Services Committee (services to elderly). He was the honoree for State of Israel Bonds in 1975, Past Commander of Jewish War Veterans Post #41 David J. Kaufman Post, Chief of Staff to the National Commander of the JWV in 2007-2008, where he traveled to Europe and Israel representing the interests of Jewish war veterans. After he “retired” from his law practice, he was a volunteer at Just Cause (formerly known as Volunteer Legal Services Project) in Rochester.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He led a very active life with his family and his many friends, including scout leader, bowling leagues, fishing and camping trips, ski trips, boating and water skiing, and much more.  He bought a cottage on Canandaigua Lake, which served as a gathering place, creating lifetime memories for his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many of his and Myrna’s dear friends, as well as friends of his children and grandchildren.  His grandchildren and great grandchildren fondly recall his Dick Tracy and Green Cheese Moon bedtime stories at the Lake house. He and Myrna enjoyed lifelong education at Elder Hostels, cruises, and travel throughout the United States and Europe.  A cherished memory is the family trip to the 1980 Olympics at Lake Placid and getting to watch the “Miracle on Ice”.
