In Loving Memory of Sofiya Ninburg

November 14, 1929 – October 10, 2025

Sofiya Ninburg, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, at the age of 95.

Sofiya is survived by her loving son, Boris Lyubkin, her adoring grandchildren, Maria Liubkina and Elizaveta Liubkina, and great-grandchildren, Raphael and Samuel.

She is predeceased by her parents, Malka and Boruch Ninburg and her husband, Boris Astanovsky.

Sofiya was born on November 14, 1929, in the former USSR. A WWII survivor, her early life was shaped by resilience, inner strength and hope — values that guided her throughout her years.

Sofiya made her home first in Rochester, NY, and later in Boston, MA.

Sofiya had always put her family first. She supported us in all our endeavors and loved spending time with us. Sofiya was also an avid traveler, and a social butterfly, who enjoyed the company of her friends.

Graveside services will be held THURSDAY October 16, 2025 at 10 a.m. in Mount Hope Cemetery, located at 1133 Mt Hope Ave, Rochester, NY 14620; followed by a reception for family and friends at 11:30 a.m. at George’s Restaurant, 1601 Penfield Rd, Rochester, NY 14625.
