Died on September 21, 2025, at the age of 63. Predeceased by her father, Robert. Survived by her husband, Craig Brownlie; her son, Aaron Brendze-Brownlie; her mother, Toby; her sister, Elizabeth (Doug Snyder); her nephews, Matt Brownlie, Trevor Brownlie, Nathaniel Snyder; her nieces, Rachael Brownlie, Danielle Snyder; and numerous cousins.
Suzanne majored in Comparative Literature at Brown, which proved less interesting than medicine once she graduated. So, she chased down the pre-med requirements at Wellesley and Harvard.
Suzanne began her career at Hilton Healthcare as a family practice physician, before joining Huther Doyle to help establish its program of primary care for patients of its addiction treatment center. At the same time she began more than a decade in urgent care — and what a decade to choose. She worked through the Covid years and through her diagnosis until this past April. From 2015-2025 she also served as a clinical instructor in family medicine (urgent care) for the University of Rochester.
Before becoming a physician, Suzanne’s other pursuits included laboratory research, notably spruce tree reproduction at Wellesley, and preeclampsia, a devastating illness of pregnancy, at Pitt. Through her own battle , Suzanne never lost the desire to help. She participated in multiple clinical trials, contributed bodily to research, somehow managed to be an organ donor, and sought every way she could to help others facing this awful outcome.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 25, 11 AM at Temple Sinai, 363 Penfield Road, Rochester.
