Sydney Cohen

Passed away on August 11, 2025 at age 91. Predeceased by his parents, Harry & Ethel Cohen; sister, Dorothy Cohen. Survived by his wife of 67 years, Sharon Cohen [Surdin]. Proud father of Mark (Michelle) Cohen, Lorne (Julie) Cohen, Melinda (Daniel) Yanoff. Devoted grandfather of Alexander, Nicole, Andrew & Jacob Cohen and Evan & Allison Yanoff. Survived also by several cousins.

He served proudly in the US Army and was a lifelong athlete of bowling, racquetball and pickleball.

Sydney was an active member of Men’s Club of Temple Beth El, Boy Scouts of America, Troop 3 Temple Beth El, Chancellor Commander of Jewish War Veterans – David J. Kauffman Post 41. He volunteered for over 2 decades at the Jewish Home. He also volunteered at Better Day Buddies, at Golisano Children’s Hospital and for Rochester School’s literacy program.
