Sylvia Heidi Flender
March 7, 1924 – November 12, 2025

Sylvia Heidi Flender, 101, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025. Born on March 7, 1924, in the Lower East Side of Manhattan to Anna and Israel Singer, Sylvia lived a long and full life surrounded by love, laughter, and family.

Over the years, she made her home in the Bronx, Long Island, New Jersey, and finally Rochester, New York. She was the eldest of four children and was predeceased by her three younger siblings.

Sylvia is survived by her three daughters, Maddy Gainen (Howard), Joan Flender (Andy)  and Barbara Flender; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Sylvia’s life centered around her family and the people she cared for. She exemplified goodness, kindness, and quiet strength, always ready with a warm smile and a calm word of encouragement. She taught those around her to make the best of every situation, to stay calm, to see the good in others—and to always wear clothes that matched and fit just right.

May memories of Sylvia bring peace of mind, good health, and laughter to all who knew and loved her.
