Zachary Lan Schaffer passed away suddenly on April 16, 2026, after experiencing major cardiac issues in 2018 and 2020. Despite those challenges, his most recent years have been the happiest and most successful of his life.

A passionate and intelligent free-thinker, Zach received his bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College in MA, and after spending a semester abroad at Tel Aviv University, he went on to receive his master’s in International Relations from New York University. Zach loved to talk, share his knowledge and fight for the underdog. He was incredibly well rounded and easily immersed in any conversation, especially regarding finance. He saw his career in options trading as a way to help his community. Adventurous, even from a young age, he enjoyed exploring new things. He had just recently come home from a cruise with his long-time girlfriend, Nicole Parmiter. He loved his time with her and her children, Adrian and Grayson, whom he adored,

He is survived by his parents, Dr. Derace and Marilyn “Sunny” Schaffer; his sister, Whitney Schaffer, her husband Ryan Shell; his buddy and nephew, Jack; as well as his dog, Tackle and cat, Slim. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. The family thanks you for your patience at this difficult time.
