We are all so sorry for this loss. You will be sorely missed. You were loved by many. We are better for knowing you, better for having met you.

He loved life itself, and he always encouraged everyone to enjoy every minute of their lives! Kороче! - he always said! Meaning, he does not have time to deal with trivial issues - he wanted to live, love and be loved! He was a well rounded man - he loved books, art, music, sports and, of course, вкусно выпить и покушать! He taught me everything I know, encouraged me to excel in education, music and sports, traveled with me на Черноё Море и в Карпаты, and was always there to help, no matter the troubles I was in. You spent every day with mom at Jewish Home and you will now reunite with her again and forever! Пусть земля тебе будет пухом, и пусть всегда тебе играет тум балалайка! Love you, dad, and will miss your неповтроримые плацинтас с картощкой!

When they were young...

Zema was a family man. Dedicated to his late wife Polya, his sons Marik and Albert and all 5 grandchildren. Always trying to make their lives better. Zema had an upbeat personality and always tried to stay positive. Quite an athlete and a soccer player. Zema will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Rest in peace!

Zema (Sam) Gelin died as a result of complications from Covid and dementia on Wednesday, March 16. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. We are so grateful for his presence in our lives. A special thank you to the people of Jewish Home of Rochester for their loving care and support during his final days.
