I was saddened to learn of your father's death. He was a kind man and a good neighbor. The first Christmas after I moved into this house, I received Christmas cards from three of my Jewish neighbors. Your father's was the first to arrive. I knew then that I had landed in a good place. You have my deepest sympathy. Mary Kate Driscoll

Dear Ellen, Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your father. He loved a long and wonderful life, and always seemed to me to be a righteous soul. He sure knew how to marry a righteous and exceptional woman, that is for sure…. Thinking of you at this sad time, and sending hugs your way. Take care. 💔

We were deeply saddened to read of Eph's passing in yesterday's paper. It was always a treat to be in his company. His was truly a life to celebrate, and he left a remarkable legacy. Ellen & Jay, you will be foremost in our thoughts over these next days, and will reach out very soon.

Dr Lewis was my dentist, from my pre-teens to my mid-forties. I also knew him as the father to two of my schoolmates. Most of my interactions with him were dentist-to-patient -- him holding court on some topic and me mumbling agreement with a mouth full of instruments. I'm at a loss to remember most of what he said to me (except, did his family own the Standard Ale brewery on Lake Avenue?) but he was always interesting. I remember him as a man of strong opinions, but none of his ideas were arrived at lightly.. He seemed to consider all the angles and then arrive at his answer. Which was, to hear him tell it, "THE answer." I was fond of him.
