Hazzan Leubitz was our Cantor af Temple Beth Am in Clevelsnd for many years. He was extremely knowledgeable about the liturgy and we enjoyed his davening. Marty was totally devoted to Judaism and was a strong supporter of Israel.. As colleagues at Temple Beth Am (I served as Educational Director), we were colleagues and friends. His children were friends of my children. Of course, he will be missed by the Rochester community and was missed by the Cleveland community when he accepted his new position at Temple Beth El! May his memory be for a blessing. Larry (Aryeh) and Barbara Mervine

Hazzan Leubitz helped me prepare for my Bat Mitzvah at Beth El back when I was Rachel Goldberg, and I believe his sons Ari and Daniel both worked as B'nai Mitzvah tutors as well. I remember the wonderful Megillah readings on Purim when Hazzan Leubitz would tell really great "dad" jokes. He always made services more enjoyable with his spirited singing.

Much of my Jewish identity, and love for Jewish music & prayer are thanks to Hazzan Leubitz. He saw potential in me: during my Bar Mitzvah studies he had me learning trope as well as the tunes for many of the holiday blessings. When someone asks me at shul "where did you learn that" many times it comes back to Hazzan. I always enjoyed hearing the tunes he used for Shabbat and Holidays and I keep them in my head even to this day. He will be missed.

Marty was indeed a special man. He treated children he was preparing for their Bas and Bar Mitzvah’s as if they were his own. As Hassan at Beth Am in Cleveland he made services very special. For us Kol Nidre will never be the same. He will be missed. May His Memory Be Foe A Blessing. Janice and Marty.

Craig and I will always remember Marty for all his wonderful melodies, his Kedusha, his dry sense of humour and for tutoring our kids for their b'nei mitzvah. Chazan Leubitz taught me how to chant Torah, for which I will always be thankful. We are so sad to hear of his passing. May his memory be a blessing.

I wanted to express my deep appreciation for Hazzan Lubitz. He tutored me for my bat mitzvah and also was just such a kind presence in my life growing up in the Beth El community. I’m so sorry to learn of his passing and send my condolences. Hazzan Lubitz was a person who truly made the world brighter, better, and happier and while I’m sad he is no longer with us, I feel privileged to have known him.

Although I have only had the pleasure of knowing Hazzan Leubitz a short while, I am very sad to learn of his passing. Hazzan Leubitz had a spark in him that made one gravitate towards him. I met Hazzan Leubitz after his retirement from Temple Beth El, but had the pleasure of hearing his strong, melodic voice when he recited the Blessing for the Wine at one the Cantor In Residence programs that I attended at Temple Beth El. Hazzan Leubitz had a kind, warm, and welcoming smile. Thank you Hazzan Leubitz for sharing your spark, knowledge, and music. My deepest condolences to Hazzan Martin Leubitz's family and those who were blessed to know him. May his memory forever be a blessing.
