Thursday, January 15, 2021, at age 92. Survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Marie; daughter, Jamie Levin-Edwards; son, David; sister, Sandi Skodnik; nephew, Joel Skodnik; nieces, Allison (Jason) Katz, Stephanie (Mark) Plotkin & four grandnephews.
Herb was a loving step-father to Deborah (Thomas) Hermane, Christopher Ilowite, Donna Abruzzo, Elizabeth (Gregory) Tutino, John Larsen; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Herb graduated from New York University and earned a master’s degree in education from Long Island Post University. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He was Master of Pacific Lodge 233 in New York City. Herb will be remembered for being a kind, generous man with a smile for everyone he met. Broadway musicals and photography of his travels around the world were his passion. He was an enthusiastic and longtime member of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at RIT where he attended many classes and was a frequent course leader. The family expresses their gratitude to Dr. Gary Horwitz and Dr. Catherine McPhee for their support and dedication, the staff at URMC Hospice Care, and Lisa Dennis for compassionate care.
Due to COVID-19, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Graveside services will be held privately at White Haven Memorial Park. If it doesn’t start right at 11 AM, please be patient as we will first be driving to the grave and placing the casket.
